Devil's Town (in Serbian Djavolja Varos) nominated for one of the New seven wonders of nature. Unfortunately, it did not pass the election, but it will continue to attract various tourists around the world who are looking for an adventure and a mystery.
It has consisted of two rare phenomena, 202 stone formations created by volcanic erosion over the million years ago, and two springs Devil's Water and Red Well of extremely acid water with high mineral content.
Similar stone formations exist around the world but not as high as this one here. The hight ranges from 2 – 15 m and width from 4 – 6 m. On top, it has stone caps as protection of further erosion.
What is an interesting story about these stone formations?
There are two legends that people have told over the years about this place.
One legend says that these stone formations are petrified wedding guests, who on devil's order wanted to marry a brother and a sister. Then God punished them by turning them into stone to stand there as a reminder that no sin goes unpunished.
The other legend says that a witch was fulfilling the human desire as long as they were giving her everything she asked for. These stone statues are those who did not fulfill the promise or tried to deceive a witch.UndefinedDEPARTURE/RETURN LOCATION

Itinerary
Day 1
Please be ready by 7:15 AM at your hotel for a prompt departure by 7:30 AM.
Drive around an hour and a half in the direction of South Serbia and Kursumllija City, the capital of medieval Serbia. We will go on a panoramic city tour and visit two monasteries, Saint Nicholas and The Most Holy Mother of God. These monasteries represent the oldest endowments of Stefan Nemanja, built between 1159 and 1166. We will see the ruins of the monastery located on a plateau between the mouth of the rivers Kosanica and Toplica.
History & Architecture
There are some speculations regarding the remains of the church as to its original appearance. It had different architectural traits from other churches in Serbia, even though it belongs to the Raška style chronologically. According to Stefan the First-Crowned, who was a biographer and a son of Stefan Nemanja, the church construction began afterward of the meeting with the Byzantine Emperor Manuel Komnenos. The meeting happened at the site of the basilica from the early Byzantine period and the time of Justinian's restoration. The other opinion is that they just built the St. Nicolas Church first in the series. These monasteries are also called The White Churches.
Our drive continues further to the south, and the Radan Mountain. Here at 600 m above sea level, are located the stone formation in the Devil’s Town. We will spend some time here and have a lunch break.
Then we continue our journey to the Prolom Banja Spa, located on the slopes of Radan and Sokolovica Mountain, at around 650 m above sea level. We will have a short walk to Lazarica Church, the only chalet church in the Toplica district. According to a legend, Princ Lazar's army took Holy Communion on the Eve of the Battle in Kosovo. What makes this place mysterious are six plums with twisted trees like when you twist fabric to drain it. There is no rational explanation for such growth today. The twisted trees, outside the churchyard, would very quickly continue to grow normally. After communion, the soldiers circled the church six times, praying for victory in Kosovo. As the army rotated, the plums twisted in that direction. Since that time, they have been growing this way. Even when the old trees were dying out, new ones were sprouting in and twisting, but what is also unusual, there were always six.At the end of our tour, we will enjoy the rest of the time at the spa center with beverages & refreshments.
